How should we decide whether a single-winner voting system is fair? [Kialo debate]

This is a spin-off of the “which single-winner voting method is best” debate and just evaluates voting method criteria themselves.

(“But who evaluates the evaluator-evaluators?”)

In truth, “fair” really just means that

  1. All voters are treated equally,
  2. All candidates are treated equally, and
  3. Unanimous preferences are respected.

In theory Asset violates #3, although Asset is entirely in a different category, so Asset supporters are (IMO rationally) willing to overlook that.

#3 is a good reason for Optional Asset Voting. If you’re using another voting method, Optional Delegation.

Well post it in the thing, not here. I was just advertising it
